In advance of his one-man show at The Regent Theatre, October 18th, Comedian/chef/broadcaster/author Ali Hassan discusses his memoir Is There Bacon in Heaven? In a wide-ranging conversation with Lynn Pickering, topics include facing bullies as a kid, his Muslim upbringing, explaining racism to his daughter, combining careers as a chef and comedian, his opinion on the comedians who performed at the Riyadh Comedy Festival in Saudi Arabia. And, oh yes, some funny stuff, too!
Tradition: Lawrence Scanlan recalls family Thanksgivings at his home in the County from his book, Harvest of a Quiet Eye: The Cabin as Sanctuary.

Prince Edward Family Health Team Executive Director Barinder Gil joins us to provide an update on the Healthcare Connect program and how the PEFHT is helping to increase and expand access to primary care for all County residents.

It’s harvest time in the County while Ontario Wine sales are booming! Canadians look to local options to replace American and imported wines. What kind of vintage will we have this year after a hot and dry summer? Wine Industry Advocate and General Manager of Closson Chase Vineyards, Erin MacInnis, joins us in-studio to talk about the popularity of Prince Edward County wines and what is being anticipated from this year’s harvest.

Jane Thompson’sguest on the County Grows will be Angela Miller, the County’s 2025 inductee to the Quinte Agricultural Wall of Fame. This honour is awarded to residents of Prince Edward, Northumberland, Hastings and Lennox and Addington Counties who have made outstanding contributions to agricultural and civic life. Ali Hassan’s career plans started off as simply as anyone’s: become a chef, get a food show on television, get a second food show on television, be the face of the network, and have oven mitts with his face on them. But sometimes things get in the way of your dreams: like your parents’ disappointment, your family of four children, and your successful comedy career.
A Canadian Comedy Award nominee, Ali has toured his solo show Muslim Interrupted around Canada to great acclaim. Pumpkinfest 2025
It’s the 28th annual P.E.C. Pumpkinfest Weigh-off and Pumpkinfest Parade Sat Oct 18. A full day of activities from the vendor market to facepainting, food, family activities, the parade at 10:30am, and the weigh off in the afternoon at CML Snider School parking lot noon-3pm. CountyFM will be broadcasting reports throughout the day made possible by the support of Wilkinson & Company LLP.
Seniors and Technology – Embracing the Digital World.
99.3 CountyFM, along with Prince Edward Learning Centre, conducts free workshops titled “Seniors and Technology: Embracing the Digital World.” Thank you to those who attended our first one on Friday at PELC. The workshops focus on the role of digital technology in your life. It’s an opportunity to share your experiences with and attitudes towards technology and discuss how we spend our time in the digital world. And perhaps identify some opportunities to use digital technologies in new ways.
