The federal government is partnering with the Corporation of the County of Hastings
by investing over $2.2 million to support Veterans.
This project will help Veterans experiencing or at imminent risk of homelessness, and
their families find safe and stable housing and remain housed while receiving
personalized supports that meet their unique needs. By combining housing search
assistance, financial support, and wrap-around services, this initiative will help Veterans
in the community find both immediate and long-term housing stability.
According to Census 2021, there are an estimated 460,000 plus Canadian Veterans.
As of October 2025, the Government of Canada estimates that there are approximately
1,800 Veterans experiencing homelessness across Canada.

Canada has lost its measles elimination status according to the Public Health Agency.
Since the fall of 2024, Canada has recorded more than 5,000 measles cases in nine
provinces and one territory.
Approximately 84 per cent of measles cases reported in 2025 in Canada were in
Ontario and Alberta, which experts have tied to waning uptake in the measles, mumps
and rubella vaccine.
About a month ago, Ontario declared the outbreak to be over, after nearly a year. In that
time, the cumulative case number surpassed 2,300. But no additional cases were
reported in the province's latest update.
Meanwhile in Alberta, where there were just under 2000 cumulative cases in 2025,
weekly case counts are low, with just six new reported cases the week of Oct. 19.
Measles is the most contagious virus known to humankind. One infected person can
transmit the disease to up to 18 others. The Pan American Health organization director
commented – thanks to vaccines, most people have never seen an outbreak in their
lifetime,"

For Guess Who fans….Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman are getting the band
back together.

The two Canadian rock legends are touring together next year as the Guess Who for
the first time in 23 years.
The Takin' It Back tour will begin on May 2026, in Moncton, N.B., and will make 11
stops across Canada, including in Halifax, Toronto, Vancouver. The tour will feature
support from Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles.

And lastly, tomorrow is Remembrance Day. A day to commemorate the courage
and sacrifice of those who have served and died in times of war, conflict, and peace,
and to acknowledge the responsibility to work for peace. Services will be held
throughout the county – In Wellington Park at the Cenotaph, the activities start around
10.40 a.m.
And in Picton Main Street at the Cenotaph, with a formation beginning at 10:30 am and
the ceremony at 11:00 am. There will also be an indoor service at the Wellington
United Church starting at 10 a.m.
