THE COUNTY WRITES….THE COUNTY READS
On the eve of the opening of the 21st International Hemingway Conference in Toronto, CWCR is all about the controversial author. Marianne K. Miller’s novel, We Were the Bullfighters, is a fictionalized account of Ernest Hemingway’s time working for the Toronto Daily Star and assigned to cover the escape of the notorious bank robber Red Ryan from the Kingston Penitentiary.
The protagonist in A New Season by Terry Fallis, follows in the footsteps of Hemingway in 1920s Paris.
Actor Bill Petch reads from Morley Callaghan’s memoir, That Summer in Paris: Memories of tangled friendships with Hemingway, Fitzgerald and some others.
