Serious Crash InQuinte – A 48 year old Brantford woman has been charged following a serious collision last night on Highway 62 in PEC. Shortly after 8:00p.m last night area OPP responded to a head-on motor vehicle collision. Their investigation revealed that a passenger vehicle was travelling southbound on Highway 62 when a northbound vehicle crossed the centre line and collided head-on. The driver of the southbound vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance. The northbound driver was hit with three alcohol and driving related offences and is being held for a bail hearing.
Putin & Modi Meet, AP – Russian President Vladimir Putin landed in India today on a state visit aimed at bolstering bilateral and economic ties between the two countries.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the Russian leader at an airport in New Delhi, giving a bearhug and a tight handshake with the gusto of an old friend.
Modi will host Putin for a private dinner tonight at his decked-up official residence.
On Friday, the two leaders will hold talks as part of the 23rd India-Russia Summit and discuss deepening economic cooperation, mainly in defense, energy and the mobility of skilled labor.
Putin’s visit comes at a sensitive time in global politics when there is a renewed push by the U.S. on a peace deal to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to an end.
She’s No Deacon, Reuters – A high-level Vatican commission voted against allowing Catholic women to serve as deacons, maintaining the global Church’s practice of all-male clergy. That according to a report given to Pope Leo and
released today.The commission, in a 7-1 vote, said historical research and theological investigation “excludes the possibility” of allowing women to serve as deacons at this time but recommended further study of the issue.
Discussions about the possibility of women deacons, who are ordained and can assist with Church services but cannot celebrate Mass, have convulsed the 1.4 billion-member Church for the past decade.
The Floods, AP – The death toll from last week’s catastrophic floods and landslides in parts of Asia surged past 1,500 today as rescue teams raced to reach survivors isolated by the disaster with hundreds of people still unaccounted
for across the region.
The latest figure came as meteorologists warned of renewed rainfall across North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh (Achay) in coming days, sparking fears of further devastation in areas already reeling from deadly floods.
The tragedy was compounded by warnings that decades of deforestation caused by unchecked development, mining and palm oil plantations may have worsened the devastation. Calls grew for the government to act. Authorities said 836 people
were confirmed dead in Indonesia, 479 in Sri Lanka and 185 in Thailand, as well as three in Malaysia. Many villages in
Indonesia and Sri Lanka remained buried under mud and debris, with 859 people still unaccounted for in both countries.
Banks Win!, CDN Press – TD Bank Group raised its dividend as it reported its fourth-quarter profit fell compared with a year ago, weighed down by one-time restructuring charges. The bank said today it will pay a quarterly dividend of $1.08 per share, up from $1.05. TD says its profit amounted to $3.28 billion or $1.82 per diluted share for the quarter ended Oct. 31, compared with a profit of $3.64 billion or $1.97 per diluted share a year ago. On an adjusted basis, TD says it earned $2.18 per diluted share for its latest quarter, up from an adjusted profit of $1.72 per
diluted share in the same quarter last year.

It was another case of ‘close, but no cigar’ for the Belleville Senators on
Wednesday night. In the 90th overall meeting between the two AHL rivals, the
Toronto Marlies held off a pressing Senators club to win 4-3 at CAA Arena,
handing Belleville its fourth straight defeat. The next time the Senators hit the ice
will be this weekend, on December 5th, as they welcome the Laval Rocket for the
start of a back-to-back at CAA Arena. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m.
The 3rd place Picton Pirates are climbing the ranks of the East Todd Division and
tonight they will host the 1st place Lakefield Chiefs. – Puck drops at 7:30 at the
PEC Community Centre. The Pirates currently trail the Chiefs by 6 points.

Rangers are in Ottawa, The Seattle Kraken will take on the Oilers in Edmonton,
