Belleville police are warning of a series of coordinated break-and-enter incidents at residential homes in the area. In a release, the Belleville Police Service says that a series of four recent daytime break-and-enter incidents are believed to be linked, with occurrences in the Potter’s Creek, Parkdale, and Farnham Road areas.
In some of these cases, police say there is evidence of pre-planning, including suspects seen in a parked vehicle monitoring homeowners leaving, or attending residences to knock on doors and determine whether anyone was home.
Several suspect vehicles have been identified and are actively being investigated, police say in their release.
At this time, there have been no reports of injuries associated with these incidents, however, the suspects are believed to be targeting unoccupied homes and gaining entry through forced means.
The community is being asked to remain vigilant and take steps to enhance home security.
PIPELINE
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says her government has proposed a route through southern B.C. for a new oil pipeline to Canada’s West Coast. The province says the pipeline will run between Bruderheim, northeast of Edmonton, to Roberts Bank terminal in Delta, B.C., using a similar corridor to the existing Trans Mountain pipeline.
Smith said the province is partnering with the federally-owned Trans Mountain Corporation and Calgary-based Pembina Pipeline Corporation for the project. The project has an estimated cost of at least $35.2 billion.
She had considered a northern route, but Ottawa and B.C. announced a deal earlier yesterday that effectively took B.C.’s North Coast off the table as an export point.
