As the military conflict in the Middle East continues to widen, Donald Trump has floated the idea of someone within the Iranian regime taking charge of a new government. And in spite of urging protesters to rise up against the regime he is now telling them not to do so while the conflict is underway. Trump also said he amade the decision to attack Iran because he thought they were planning to attack first. However, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Israel initiated the attack as a pre-emptive strike against Iran and requested US support. Meanwhile, Iran continues to fire missles and drones at other middle eastern countries including a British base in Cyprus which threatens to draw the UK and Greece into the conflict. France has also deployed military forces in the region. The US embassy in Saudia Arabia was also hit earlier today by Iranian drones.

And a painting that was declared a fake by experts in the 1960’s has been discovered to be a genuine Rembrandt. The current owner’s father bought the picture in 1961 believing it to be by Rembrandt. However, it turned out experts had already declared it a fake. The man tried for years to have it declared an original without luck but his son recently appealed to expert Johathon Bikker of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam who thought it was worth another look. After two years of meticulous testing and study Bikker is now able to confirm that it is, in fact, a genuine Rembrandt. The painting shows a the biblical scene where Zacharias learns from the Angel Gabriel that he and his wife will have a son who will be John the Baptist. It was put on display in the Rijksmuseum for the first time today.
