Municipal Councils in Ontario may soon be able to remove members who are guilty of serious misconduct. Bill 9, also known as the Municipal Accountability Act, was passed by a vote of 110 to 1 in the Ontario legislature earlieroday. Previously municipal councils could not remove members even in cases of serious misconduct involving harm to others. The bill still requires royal assent before becoming law.
