Donald Trump was all smiles at the start of his meeting with Mark Carney today. In a televised press conference at the Whitehouse Trump complimented Carney and called him a world class leader. He also said he expects the pair will finalize a trade deal that Canadians will be very happy with adding that he expects Canadians will love the US again once the deal is finalized. Trump did caution that the US sees Canada as an economic competitor and while they want Canada to do great there is a point at which both countries are competing for the same business. Trump is under increasing pressure domestically to address the rising cost of his tariffs and the resistance to US travel, products and services because of his aggressive tactics. The two leaders are now in closed door meetings.
And Thirty paintings created by the bushy haired TV artist Bob Ross are slated to be auctioned off to support public television stations in the U.S. Ross became famous on public television in the 1980s and ’90s with his calm demeanor and encouraging style, famously claiming that there are no mistakes in painting, just happy little accidents. The money raised will help to offset the massive cuts to public television funding by the Trump administration. Most of the paintings are in his iconic style and were created in 30 minutes on air. Bonhams, the auction house selling the paintings, estimates the sale will bring in between 850,0000 and 1.4 million dollars. Ross died in 1995 at the age of 51.
