What are these County readers writing? In his essay, Things a Writer Knows, Ken Murray decries the rise of AI. Dave J.D. Carpenter reads from his novella set on a fictionalized version of the Queen Mary 2. Vicki Delany reads an unedited excerpt she has just written for her Year Round Christmas Mystery series. Janet Kellough recounts delightful and insightful tales from her recent travels.

Summer Public Transit Program: Vincent de Tourdonnet, the County’s Transit Coordinator, describes the new services provided by Quinte Transit which include new routes and new schedules.

Memories of Sly Stone and Brian Wilson: Both Jim JJ Johnston and Reid Pickering were kids when they were introduced to these musical icons. They discuss their impact, influence and legacy.

Authors on AI: Janet Kellough, Ken Murray, Vicki Delany, and Dave J.D. Carpenter respond to news stories of some writers using generative AI as an aid to novel writing.

Native planting is a big trend taking off in Prince Edward County, thanks to the efforts of advocate for the environment, Lise Bois and proprietors, Bailey Austin-Macmillan and Riley Grant of Dropseed Native Plant Nursery. Learn why native planting is so important for our local ecology as well as what plants available this year for County gardeners

The CEO of the Foundation of Ontario Cottagers’ Associations, Lesley Lavender, joins us to talk about the Invasive Species program and how they affect cottage and waterfront property owners and boaters and discusses how FOCA is using their programs to limit proliferation and increase awareness. 

Dr. Joe Burley says that people who have hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking are in a lot of pain and mental anguish. We will discuss how psychosis is caused, what it looks like, treatments, and how we may be with others who have experiences with it.

There’s a new conservation technique that’s gaining traction in North America and in Europe. The premise is really simple: leave invasive species control to goats — or sheep, or ponies, for that matter. Alea Snively uses goats to control absinthe wormwood on a Nature Conservancy Canada property near Red Deer, Alberta. Talking to Pamela Stagg, she still obviously loves every moment of putting goats to work.

Working with CBC News from 1981 to 2021, she anchored The National and hosted Undercurrents, Disclosure, Marketplace, and The Weekly with Wendy Mesley. Now joining County Profile (this time as the interviewee) Wendy talks with Timothy Luginbuhl about some of her more memorable interviews, windsurfing and (ahem) lawncare.

Pamela Mayhew interviews Tom Wilson about the upcoming Tom Wilson Mohawk Symphony concert at the Regent Theatre on June 21 at 7:30 p.m. and about the opening of his exhibit at the Hatch Gallery on June 22 from 11am – 1 pm.  It’s all part of National Indigenous People’s Day.  Pamela and Tom talk about his personal discovery of his Mohawk heritage, his music, art making and the combined dance of it all.   The Tom Wilson Mohawk Symphony is presented by 99.3 CountyFM.

The shows will take place at The Eddy Pavillion and the Red Barn Theatre,  The Regent, and new to this year’s season, The Mount Tabor Playhouse.  The new season has been announced, so tune in to learn more about this year’s exciting season.

99.3 County FM, your volunteer-driven community radio thanks you for your tremendous support during our CountyFM Wellings of Picton RadiothonTo our 2025 sponsors, donors, and volunteers you make it all possible. This year we have now received $75,521 against our goal of $74,000 in donations and we are still counting.  Over 60 musicians came to the aid of the station.
