The award-winning, best-selling author discusses his lengthy career, the inspiration for his novels and his connection to The County. Excerpt read by Simon Vance.

SERVICES
Why and how does tinnitus happen? Pulling from the archives back in April, we talk about everything tinnitus with regular guest, Maxine Armstrong, Audiologist and owner of the Quinte Hearing Centre.
CONSUMERISM
Since December 2023 regions throughout Ontario have been transitioning their blue box program for their commercial, industrial and institutional sectors. Now it’s our turn in Quinte. As of July 19 these properties will no longer have their recyclables picked up at the curbside. Let’s learn how this transition is about putting the responsibility onto the producers of the recyclable plastic and paper packaging. Joining us in the studio to guide us through these changes is Shire Hall’s Supervisor of Environmental Services and Sustainability, Albert Paschkowiak.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
One way to celebrate Canada Day is to listen to one of The County’s Sports Hall of Famers. Troy Eaton of Bloomfield is a multi-award winner, including the World Arm Wrestling Championships. Troy has inspired many people in the County to take on the sport not only to get fit, but also to help balance mental health. We pulled this interview with Troy Eaton and fellow PAWC member, Brad Hughes, back in January 2023 in the archives and hope you find yourselves inspired as we did!

THE COUNTY, NATURALLY
In May of 2015, the Miller Family Nature Reserve was dedicated to the memory of Nina and Cecil Miller, a farming couple who spent their lives in Prince Edward County. The purchase of the Miller farm by Hastings Prince Edward Land Trust was the first step in a conservation initiative that’s continuing today. Areas like the Hudgin Rose property– and its historic cabin — and McMahon Bluff are now protected forever. This week, we look back at the dedication of that important South Shore property in an interview Pamela Stagg did with Dick Bird at the time.
