The Quinte Organ Transplant Support Group was established to advocate for patients awaiting organ transplants and to provide guidance and encouragement throughout their journey. We hear from the group’s President, Mark Landry, and Vice President, Lauralee Cowan—both liver transplant recipients—as well as Beth Law, a pancreas transplant recipient. They share the inspiration behind forming the group and their personal experiences that emphasize the importance of having a dedicated support network for transplant patients.

In its 7th year, the Seniors information and Active Living Fair will be held on Thursday, November 13 at the Wellington Community Centre. We speak with Coordinator of Community Care For Seniors, Laura McGugan, to hear what the day is all about!
HEALTH & WELLNESS

Poets Karen Palmer and Heather Lindsay join us in-studio to talk not only about how the art of poetry is healing but how the giving of impromptu poetry can be therapeutically heartwarming & adventurous. They will be part of the upcoming Picton Night Market on November 15 where their “Free Range Poetry” tent will invite visitors to experience impromptu poems, all in support of County Kids Read. To talk about why supporting this community organization is so important, will be Andrea Dawes.

When Dr. Tetsuto Yamashita flew up to the remote Anderson River in the Northwest Territories, he could never have guessed that he was about to find:fossils of fish that were just beginning to evolve into land animals. It wasn’t the point in evolution that was surprising, it was that these were the earliest fossils ever to show the development of primitive limbs. He will tell Pamela Stagg about this remarkable discovery, about breaking hammers on the incredibly hard rock, and about an amazing sight he saw from the helicopter out of the Anderson River archeological camp.
